The Palestine Test: Countering the Silencing Campaign

Mary-Jo Nadeau

Alan Sears

Abstract

In his recent book The Israel Test, George Gilder argued that “the centralissue in international politics, dividing the world into two fractious armies,is the tiny state of Israel.”1 One does not need to buy Gilder’s particularargument about Israel’s unique contribution to capitalist innovation torecognize the importance of Palestine/Israel in contemporary world politics. The global impact of Palestine/Israel is echoed by its prominence in theimmediate politics of our campuses and communities.
